Acosys Consulting is looking to hire a Technical Writer for its client. Our client is looking for a dynamic and self-motivated Technical Writer to work within the Technical Writing Services Team. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the research, creation and maintenance of system documentation for internal software applications, such as user manuals, release notes, and detailed design documents (DDD). The successful candidate will be able to interpret and integrate technical concepts and literature into user-friendly documentation and write technical subject matter for a variety of audiences; technical, business and end-user.


Key Responsibilities:
 
 
  • Create and maintain technical and end-user documentation for in-house applications, including System User Manuals, Release Notes, and Detailed Design Documents in PDF format
  • Publish and distribute technical documents to appropriate channels
  • Follow established documentation quality assurance processes and style guides
  • Understand the functionalities of our client’s internal systems
  • Coordinate and review all written material with Translation Services; amend French documentation as needed
  • Collaborate with team members and contribute to discussions and stylistic decisions
  • Interact with various Information System roles; product/software development, application support, business analysts
  • Conduct user analysis, product research (applications) and usability testing
  • Interview various subject matter experts
  • Complete special projects as assigned by management
 
                              
Qualifications
 
  • Certificate in Technical Writing
  • 3 years relevant experience as a Technical Writer including technical documentation and interpreting technical documentation for end users
  • Impeccable writing, spelling and grammar skills
  • Attention to detail – accuracy is critical
  • Proficient in the following applications:
  • Adobe FrameMaker
  • Adobe Acrobat
  • Microsoft Word
  • SharePoint Proficient with desktop publishing, online help creation and graphics software
  • Adaptable and able to grasp new concepts; understanding system processes and new technologies
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Effective time management skills and multi-tasking abilities
  • Intuitive and self-motivated
  • Research and analytical skills
 
Assets:
  • Bilingual (French & English)
  • Previous health claims adjudication or group insurance experience (drug, dental and extended health)
  • Experience creating online help
 
 
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
  • Job requires precise finger/hand movements while working with a keyboard
  • Need to remain at work station for lengthy periods
